Also, our very own president, Prof. Stewart Evans has written a book, ‘Pride in the Lion‘. The History of Newcastle University Rugby Football Club’. This will be launched early in December. It traces the history of the Club from our roots, as College of Science RFC, in the late nineteenth century when we were part of Durham University, to 1963 when Newcastle University received its own charter and we separated from Durham, until the present day. Over this time, the Club has been massively successful. However, the book deals, not only with senior men’s rugby, but women’s and inter-mural rugby, our relations with other clubs in the region, and politics and sport. The book will be hard-back, 268 pages in length and will include 106 (mostly colour) illustrations. Details of how to purchase a copy are included in the Vice-Presidents’ Newsletter. Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to rugby development here. The Newsletter is in the VPA‘s Page on a link. (Very Interesting).
