ABOUT US

The VPs Association was first formed in 1982, mainly due to the initiative of Ian Cook (now President of Northern RFC), Dave Woodcock (Captain of the Club 1967-68) and Stewart Evans (still President of Newcastle University RFC). The funds have helped the Club to buy kit, equipment, such as a scrummaging machine, rugby balls and tackle bags, sponsor pre-match events and contribute to costs of tours and coaching. However, costs escalate and the Club never needed our support more than it does now.

The Officials and Committee, will be elected with a total disregard for democracy.

The Association is open to former players, parents and supporters. The subscription is £20 per year or a one-off payment of £100 to become a life member. You can join by downloading the application form and banker’s order (click on here to contact and join us) or by writing to the Club’s VP Liaison Officer (Name of person, Newcastle University Rugby Football Club, Athletic Union, Students’ Union, Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 7RU). Subscriptions will be used solely for the development of Rugby Football at Newcastle University, and will spent at the discretion of the VPs Committee.

What you will get in return for joining the Association:

• An opportunity to put something back into the Club, and the game itself, from which you have had such enjoyment.
• A list of the addresses (postal and/or email) of other VPs.
• Invitations to events such as pre-match hospitality and dinners.
• Up to date information through this website and an annual Newsletter.
• An opportunity to get in touch with other VPs by placing a message on the Message Board.
